Nomad Living: Stay with a Mongolian Nomadic Family

No camp. No schedule. One family, one group at a time.

This is not a camp and not a programme. We place you with families we have known for years, in their own valley, living the way they actually live.

There is no wifi, no restaurant and no fixed schedule here — what there is: a working ger, a herd to move with, food cooked over a stove, and a family who has hosted travellers before, on their own terms rather than a script.

LocationUvurkhangai Province
Duration2–7 nights
Group sizeUp to 6 travellers
SeasonTypically June–September; confirmed at enquiry
What’s not hereWifi, restaurant, fixed schedule

Days here are not run by the clock. You wake with the herd, help with the morning milking if you want to, and ride out with the family as they move animals or check on the flock. In the afternoon there is time to sit, walk, or simply watch the valley change light.

Evenings are spent around the stove, with food cooked the way the family has always cooked it. No two days look quite the same, because nothing here is arranged for show.

Uvurkhangai is reached by road from Ulaanbaatar, and the family’s valley is a further drive from the provincial centre — we handle the transfer as part of the stay.
